ZAGREB, Mar 1 (Hina) - Croatia's government, trade unions and
employers will begin a discussion on the principles of a social pact
next Friday.
Croatia's Economic-Social Council (GSV), which is composed of
representatives of the government, unions and employers, convened
in Zagreb on Wednesday for the first time after the change of
authority in the country.
They agreed the first session of the Council's new composition
would focus on a social pact aimed at establish priorities and a way
of just distribution of state money.
"Neither saving nor austerity are at issue, but awareness that we
can spend only what is there and what will be created, because today
we are paying for the previous policy, which spent
unrealistically," said Deputy Premier Zeljka Antunovic.
As an advisory body, the GSV will play a very important role if it
succeeds in functioning properly, namely if it will be the place
where social partners use realistic foundations to consult on the
economic and social policy, she said.
The first president of GSV's new composition will be elected by
trade unions.
