After the European Council decided earlier today to invite the Council of the EU to take all necessary decisions for the conclusion of Croatia's entry talks by the end of this month with a view of signing of the accession document by the end of this year, Jandrokovic said that "this is a great day for Croatia".
Moreover, it comes at a time when we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Croatia's statehood, he recalled.
The country's admission to the EU brings to conclusion what we started 20 years ago, the minister told Hina, adding that today Croatians had every reason for happiness and pride.
He said credit went to Croatians who defended the country, to the first Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and to all Croatian governments participating in processes important for the conclusion of the EU entry talks.
Jandrokovic praised the current Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor "for her key role in lifting the blockade from the negotiations and in launching a clamp-down on corruption".
