They laid wreaths and lit candles at the monument during today's commemoration organised by the association called " Hrvatski Obredni Zdrug Jazovka (HOZ)" and by the Croatian society of former political prisoners.
HOZ representative Pero Sola said that so far 30 graves and mass graves with victims of the Communist era had been unearthed in the area of Djakovo.
According to Sola, so far 3,000 victims of Communism have been identified in the area of Djakovstina while fascism claimed the lives of some 1,700 residents in that region.
He spoke about a case of some 100 people who were killed in Djakovo when the Partisans entered that town on 17 April 1945 and whose bodies were dumped into a 100-metre-long trench in the town.
