Libyan diplomatic mission in Zagreb legitimate representative of National Transitional Council

ZAGREB, June 17 (Hina) - Members of the Libyan diplomatic mission in Croatia, advisor Mohammed A. A. Othman and envoy Abdelhakim A. A. Allafi, on Friday delivered a note to Croatia's Foreign Ministry, informing the ministry that the National Transitional Council in Benghazi conferred legitimacy on the this diplomatic mission in Zagreb as its only legitimate representative in Croatia, the ministry said in a statement

They thanked Croatia for support to bring the ongoing conflict and suffering in Libya to an end and to the establishment of the new government on democratic foundations.

By withdrawing hospitality to the former Charge d'Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Croatia, Abdulkarim Naas and by supporting the United Nations' Security Council's resolution 1970/2011 and 1973/2011, Croatia took first steps in isolation of the regime of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, the statement reads.

Croatia is willing to continue assisting in the democratic transition of Libya and in the establishment of democratic institutions in that north African country.

The large-scale unrest turning into rebellion erupted four months ago, causing huge casualties and material damage in that country in the Maghreb region.
