Bebic expressed satisfaction with stable and friendly bilateral relations between the two countries, calling for the strengthening of bilateral parliamentary relations and the enhancement of economic cooperation.
We are happy about Croatia's prospective admission to the European Union and about the fact that we could help you in that process, said the Earl of Dundee, Alexander Scrymgeour, a member of the House of Lords and the head of the Friendship Group. He invited Croatian parliamentarians to visit the British Parliament.
The British Ambassador in Zagreb, David Blunt, said that his country appreciated the Sabor Speaker's acknowledgement of the United Kingdom's support to Croatia on its road towards the EU.
Commending Croatia's efforts to solve key issues such as the reform of the judiciary, anti-corruption campaign, and human rights improvement, the British parliamentary delegation showed an interest in future relations between the legislative and executive authorities after Croatia's entry into the European bloc as well as in Croatia's role as a factor of regional stability and its support to its neighbours in their Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Bebic said that Croatia would gladly assist its neighbours in following the same European road and common values in order to ensure permanent stability in southeastern Europe.
The delegation was also received by Vesna Pusic, the head of the Croatian national committee overseeing Croatia's EU accession negotiations, who informed them of the reforms, the adjustment of national legislation to the EU standards and the work of the national committee.
