Croatian state secretary hold talks with Vatican officials on pope's visit to Zagreb

ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry State Secretary Mario Nobilo on Wednesday held talks with the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States, Dominique Mamberti and other officials in the Holy See about the forthcoming visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Zagreb on 4-5 June, the Croatian ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

They also discussed the completion of Croatia's European Union accession talks.

During his stay in Rome, Nobilo held talks with the Italian Foreign Ministry's state secretary, Alberto Mantica, on bilateral relations, Croatia's EU membership bid and regional cooperation.

The Italian official expressed readines of Italy to be among the first countries to ratify the Croatia-EU accession treaty.
