MESIC CONTINUES TO RECEIVE LETTERS OF CONGRATULATION

ZAGREB, Feb 16 (Hina) - Croatian President-Elect Stjepan Mesic on Wedensday continued to receive letters of congratulation, including letters from the Hungarian President, the Slovene President and Prime Minister, the King of Jordan, the President of Sri Lanka and the head of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. In his letter, Hungarian President Arpad Goencz said that the people of Croatia showed an attempt of responsible forming the future of the country at the parliamentary and presidential elections. The Hungarian President offered Mesic the support of his country and said that openness towards Euro-Atlantic integration and further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries are Croatia's priorities which are supported by Hungary. Slovene President Ivan Kucan invited President Mesic to visit Slovenia. In his letter, Kucan expressed happiness about cooperation with the new head of the Croatian State. Slovene Premier Janez Drnovsek, the King of Jordan, Abdulah II, president of Sri Lanka Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, and the head of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Fra' Andrew Bertie also congratulated Mesic on his electoral victory.
