LONDON APPLAUDS MESIC'S INVITATION TO SERB REFUGEES TO COME BACK LONDON, Feb 11 (Hina) - Great Britain welcomes the invitation of Croatia's President-elect Stipe Mesic to all Serb refugees to return to Croatia, said Foreign Office Minister Keith Vaz on Friday. "President-elect Mesic's invitation to all Serb refugees to return to Croatia is a significant step towards reconciliation that has the potential to transform the situation in the Balkans, as well as representing a step-change in Croatia's approach to the Dayton Peace Agreement, Vaz said. He congratulated "Mr. Mesic on his courage." Vaz expressed hope that "Serb and other refugees will feel reassured and able to accelerate the process of return." "Britain and the rest of the international community are ready to help them do so. We are also ready to build on this positive move by Croatia's new leadership," read a statement issued by the Foreign Office. (hina) mm ms
