ZAGREB, Jan 28 (Hina) - After the transfer of authority on Friday,
Bozo Kovacevic (of the Liberal Party or LS), the newly-appointed
Minister of physical planning, housing and construction, said the
ministry which he took from former Minister Marko Sirac was a good
basis for further moves.
"I am satisfied with what I have found as well as with the contents
and manner how the former Minister Sirac presented to me the
activities of the ministry and plans for 2000," said the new
Minister Kovacevic, who will become the minister of environmental
protection and physical planning after relevant laws are changed.
One of first tasks for Kovacevic is to set up a different ministry
because a part of services and departments of the current one will
be taken by the ministry of public works, reconstruction and
construction after those changes of laws.
This means that many organisational moves should be done in the
current ministry, such as the exact definition of activities,
drafting of a law on its organisation and elaboration of a draft
budget for this year, Kovacevic added.
The new ministry of environmental protection and physical planning
will consist of parts of the current ministry of physical planning,
housing and construction, but it will also include the activities
of the current state administration for the environmental
protection. Kovacevic announced his talks for the next week with
the head of the above-mentioned state administration, Ante Kutle,
on ways for including the environmental protection in the new
ministry.
Kovacevic expressed satisfaction with what the current ministry
had done in the field of legislative duties as well as with
administrative and inspection tasks.
