ZAGREB, Jan 28 (Hina) - The Croatian Association of Unions of Public Services requested of the new Government Friday to regulate the salaries of state officials by coefficient and tie them with the basis of users of the government
budget. Association chairman Vilim Ribic applauded the Government's intention to reduce the salaries of state officials and warned that the primary problem of the salaries was that since 1998 they had not been tied to the bases of public and state officials and the users of the government budget. Salaries should not be reduced to an absurd level which would destimulate the responsible work of state officials, Ribic said. Judges' salaries should also be lessened as they are enormous and disrupt all normal relations in the legal practice, and do not in any way respond to the responsibility and work of judges, which citizens feel in courts daily, Ribic stressed.(hina) lml
