ZAGREB, Jan 21 (Hina) - The electoral headquarters of presidential candidate Drazen Budisa on Friday reacted to Thursday's statement by the Croatian People's Party (NHS) electoral headquarters which claimed that people from Budisa's
headquarters lacked political maturity and that "Mesic and Budisa were candidates of parties of the victorious coalition and had committed to cooperating in the implementation of programme starting points of the six party coalition". Budisa's headquarters said such a reaction by Mesic's electoral headquarters was "impudent" and "contained confusing illogical facts, that is, untruths" because Budisa's electoral programme was based on the electoral declaration of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) coalition, "The New Course of Croatian Politics". ZAGREB, Jan 21 (Hina) - The electoral headquarters of presidential
candidate Drazen Budisa on Friday reacted to Thursday's statement
by the Croatian People's Party (NHS) electoral headquarters which
claimed that people from Budisa's headquarters lacked political
maturity and that "Mesic and Budisa were candidates of parties of
the victorious coalition and had committed to cooperating in the
implementation of programme starting points of the six party
coalition".
Budisa's headquarters said such a reaction by Mesic's electoral
headquarters was "impudent" and "contained confusing illogical
facts, that is, untruths" because Budisa's electoral programme was
based on the electoral declaration of the Social Democratic Party
(SDP) and Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) coalition, "The New
Course of Croatian Politics".
Budisa's headquarters stressed that his position was very clear
regarding commitments of presidential candidates "to cooperate in
the implementation of programme starting points of the six
parties," that is, that Budisa had signed the declaration on the
basic starting points of the post-electoral functioning of the six
parties.
Budisa's headquarters also commented on Mesic's statement in the
Vjesnik daily in which he claimed that he was "obligated only
towards Croatian citizens, not a party or a coalition or a third
side".
Stressing that this "form of populism and direct connection with
the people was well-known to the citizens of Croatia", the
statement recalled "Mesic's statements that he would hold reigns on
the Parliament and Government. This HNS story, makes what we have
just liberated ourselves from even less convincing," the statement
said.
"We shall leave Mesic's relation towards the HNS up to them, and we
wish to turn the Croatian public's attention to the fact that Stipe
Mesic's electoral programme is not in accordance with the basic
starting points of the post-electoral functioning of the six
parties," the headquarters said.
