SDP, HSLS, SBHS STRONGLY SUPPORT BUDISA'S CAMPAIGN

OSIJEK, Jan 21 (Hina) - The Social Democratic Party (SDP), Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) and the Slavonia-Baranja Croatian Party (SBHS) coalition firmly supports presidential candidate Drazen Budisa as he wishes to realise three main goals: economic and social revival, the realisation of a law-based state and breaking through international barricades and isolation, party officials said in Osijek Friday. "With his morality and credibility Budisa guarantees that he, as president, can be rational and can realise a moral renaissance, that is, restore in Croatia those values which the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) destroyed for years," HSLS vice-president Vilim Herman said. SBHS president Damir Juric assessed the upcoming presidential elections were no less important than the past parliamentary polls, although "the public has got the impression that the main work has been done, which is an incorrect assumption". "We need a man who will, in harmony with the Parliament and Government, work on the deconstruction of the one-party system," Juric said. "If the people decided to change the system then it should be changed radically, together with the president, and this is why the presidential elections are exceptionally important," SDP Osijek branch president Antun Jankovic said.
