ZAGREB, Jan 11 (Hina) - Croatian parliament president and acting

one of the possible dates for the constitution of the new
parliament.

Representatives would be formed, and laws passed which would enable

Pavletic expressed hope the constituent session would not have to
be postponed, regardless of possible objections to the official
results of January 3 parliamentary elections.
Today Pavletic discussed the dates for the transfer of executive
and legislative powers with the presidents of the parties making
the "Opposition Four" coalition.
Yesterday he discussed the matter with the presidents of the Social
Democratic Party/Croatian Social Liberal Party (SDP/HSLS)
coalition, which won the recent elections, and today and tomorrow
will do so with representatives of the formerly ruling party, the
Croatian Democratic Union, and the Croatian Party of
Rights/Croatian Christian Democratic Union coalition.
"In case of objections (to the results of the elections), the
appointment of the government mandatary will be prolonged, but
there is no need to prolong the parliament's constituent session,"
said Pavletic.
The parliamentary elections will be repeated at 11 polling stations
on January 16.
"It is in the interest of the Croatian people that the authority be
transferred as soon as possible, so that we can start resolving the
amassed problems," said Zlatko Tomcic, the president of the
Croatian Peasants' Party, one of the "Opposition Four".
Tomcic said he was sure the "Opposition Six", which includes the
parties from the "Opposition Four" and the electoral winners, would
reach an agreement on the distribution of duties in the executive
and legislative authority. "I am not expecting any major problems
in agreeing with the (SDP/HSLS coalition)," he said.
The "Opposition Six" announced a meeting for tomorrow at which it
should reach an agreement about a new government functioning
concept.
Pavletic announced for next week a meeting with the representatives
of all parliamentary parties to discuss details regarding the
constituting of the new parliament.
