OSIJEK, Dec 9 (Hina) - A two-day-long international conference on
European traffic corridor 5c which connects Budapest, the eastern
Croatian town of Osijek, Sarajevo, and the southern Croatian port
of Ploce, started in Osijek on Thursday.
The conference was organised by the Euro-regional Cooperation
Danube-Drava-Sava, which includes Osijek-Baranja County and
Bosnia-Herzegovina's Tuzla-Podrina Canton.
The conference is attended by representatives of the Organisation
for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Office of the High
Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Greeting all present, Vice President of the Croatian National Sabor
Vladimir Seks stressed that Croatia's strategic goal was
approaching Europe and the European Union.
"Croatia realised the meaning of regional and cross-border
cooperation because it ensures plenty of experience for the
establishment of relations with the European Union", said Seks.
He added that the 5c corridor was a project which exceeded regional
frames and was of European proportion, and at the same time it was an
occasion for "reintegration of the region in European traffic and
economic flows".
Vice president of the Hungarian Parliament Ferenz Wekler said that,
in the financial sense, the project was too big for countries which
were directly interested in it, therefore the support of the
international community was expected.
