ZAGREB, Jan 4 (Hina) - First preliminary unofficial results of the voting of national minorities for their representatives in the Croatian Sabor House of Representatives were announced on early Tuesday morning. In case members of
minorities did not wish to elect their representatives in that separate 12th unit, they could vote for one of lists offered in the constituency where they live. According to data processed by 01.00 am Tuesday for the 12th electoral unit (covering national minorities throughout Croatia) a Serb candidate Milan Djukic won 47.29 percent of votes. He was followed by Milorad Pupovac who had 33.96 percent of votes by that time. Of votes cast by Croatian Hungarians, Tibor Santo won 40.71 percent and he was followed by Denes Soja with 35.70 percent. Italians in Croatia voted mostly for Furio Radin who won 79.02
percent of ballots. Tullio Persi was the second candidate for a seat
of the Italian minority in the Croatian parliament with the 8.68
percent of votes.
The above-mentioned most numerous minorities - Serbs (251,366),
Hungarians (36,284) and Italians (17,995) - are to have one deputy
each in the Sabor.
Members of the Czech and Slovakian minorities could elect one joint
deputy and Austrians, Germans, Ruthenians, Ukrainians and Jews
could vote for their joint representative. Thus the 12th
constituency (national minorities) will have five MPs in Croatia.
Members of Czech and Slovakian minorities cast most votes for
Zdenka Cuhnil (39.69 percent) and Ana Vodvarka (25.51 percent).
According to preliminary results, Nikola Mak with 22.87 percent was
in the lead on the list for which Austrians, Germans, Ruthenians,
Ukrainians and Jews voted. Slavko Burda was closely behind him with
21.26 percent of votes.
