POLLING STATIONS IN UNITED STATES AND CANADA CLOSE

WASHINGTON, Jan 4 (Hina) - After the poling station in Los Angeles closed at 07.00 pm local time (or at 04.00 am Tuesday Central European time), the voting for the Croatian National Sabor House of Representatives ended officially. In North America polling stations for Croatian citizens were open on Sunday and Monday in the Croatian embassies in Washington D.C. and Ottawa and in consulates in Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, New York and Mississauga. A turnout at the polls was beyond expectations. According to data released by electoral committees, over 4,000 voters cast their ballots at the polling stations in North America. Of them about 40 percent voted for lists offered for the Diaspora (or the eleventh constituency), while the rest were Croatians temporarily in the United States of Canada.
