VUKOVAR CROSS EXACTLY AT MIDNIGHT VUKOVAR, Jan 1 (Hina) - Members of a few associations of Homeland War Veterans and workers of the Koprivnica-based food-processing factory "Podravka" laid wreaths in front of the stone cross in the
eastern town of Vukovar, erected in memory of fallen soldiers, exactly at midnight, welcoming in New Year in that way for the second consecutive year. Addressing several hundred gathered people at this ceremony held in front of the cross placed near the mouth of the river Vuka in the Danube, the head of the Koprivnica-based war veterans' society called UBIUDR, Mladen Pavkovic said that for Croatia's defenders who fought in the Homeland War "New Years are no longer what they used to be.
