BELGRADE, Dec 14 (Hina) - The president of the international non-
government organisation Project on Ethnic Relations, Alan Kasoff,
said at a round table in Belgrade on Friday the issue of relations
between Serbia and Montenegro had to be solved as soon as possible,
otherwise Yugoslavia would not be able to count on the
international community's assistance.
Addressing reporters at the end of the first day of the round table
"New Yugoslavia and Its Neighbours: Regional Dialogue," Kasoff
said the longer this issue stayed open, the harder it will be for
Serbia and Montenegro to count on the international community with
regard to political stability or investments.
The round table, organised by the Project on Ethnic Relations in
cooperation with the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in
Europe (OSCE), is attended by representatives of south-east
European countries. Assistant Foreign Minister Josip Paro
represents Croatia.
Kasoff said today's discussion focused on the current Yugoslav
policy.
Yugoslav representatives have concluded that despite party
disputes and competition, Yugoslavia is on the right track towards
reforms, even though there are serious disagreements, Kasoff
said.
He reminded about the European Union's stand that the two federal
units (Serbia and Montenegro) must continue dialogue.
Also discussed was the status of Kosovo Serbs and Serbs in Croatia
and Bosnia.
