BELGRADE, Dec 13 (Hina) - The Serbian parliament on Thursday dismissed the suggestion of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) for a commission of inquiry to be established to investigate all the circumstances and situation in the
production and trafficking of tobacco. Apart from the suggested party, all opposition MPs also voted for the motion. Two months ago the DSS separated from the DOS coalition and has since been an independent party DSS-DOS. The motion was clearly directed against "the ineffectiveness of the Serbian government" with Zoran Djindjic at the helm. It was also asked that the commission investigate the foundation of claims about the organised smuggling of cigarettes in Serbia. BELGRADE, Dec 13 (Hina) - The Serbian parliament on Thursday
dismissed the suggestion of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS)
for a commission of inquiry to be established to investigate all the
circumstances and situation in the production and trafficking of
tobacco.
Apart from the suggested party, all opposition MPs also voted for
the motion. Two months ago the DSS separated from the DOS coalition
and has since been an independent party DSS-DOS.
The motion was clearly directed against "the ineffectiveness of the
Serbian government" with Zoran Djindjic at the helm. It was also
asked that the commission investigate the foundation of claims
about the organised smuggling of cigarettes in Serbia.
The DSS and the opposition MPs cited the writing of Zagreb's
Nacional weekly about the involvement of Djindjic and Montenegrin
President Milo Djukanovic in illegal cigarette smuggling.
Head of the DOS parliamentary bench, Cedomir Jovanovic, pointed out
the Serbian government efforts in settling the cigarette smuggling
case.
