PODGORICA, Dec 5 (Hina) - "Montenegro is for the resumption of dialogue about all positions," Prime Minister Filip Vujanovic said on Tuesday following talks with the EU commissioner for external and security policy, Javier Solana, and
Yugoslav Premier Miroljub Labus in Brussels the day before, according to Montenegrin media. Parallel with the dialogue will run preparations for a referendum which will not be held only if Montenegrin and Serbian political structures agree about the concept of an alliance of sovereign states, which is what official Podgorica proposes, said Vujanovic. He stressed the talks did not prevent the preparation of the referendum or the referendum obstruct the talks. The European Union's position on a "democratic Montenegro in a democratic Yugoslavia... binds Montenegro's authorities, but they see it as a recommendation, not as an ultimatum," said the premier. Montenegrin Foreign Minister Branko Lukovac, commenting on
Solana's offer to participate in Belgrade-Podgorica talks, said on
Tuesday foreign factors were not necessary given that the EU had
thus far not been neutral in disputes between Serbia and
Montenegro.
"I personally think the representatives of Montenegro and Serbia
have enough interest, wisdom and patience and will show the
necessary willingness to arrange future relations by themselves,"
said Lukovac.
