BUDAPEST-Politika PARLIAMENT SPEAKER ADVOCATES FASTER ADAPTATION TO EU STANDARDS BUDAPEST, Nov 27 (Hina) - Croatia aims to reach the level of readiness for joining the European Union much faster than envisaged in the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), parliamentary speaker Zlatko Tomcic said in Budapest on Tuesday. "On the parliamentary level we seek the best models of special proceedings and ensuring priorities for the adjustment," Tomcic told his counterparts from Italy, Slovenia, and Hungary at a meeting of the so-called quadrilateral initiative. He said the experience the three states had in adapting their legislation were valuable for Croatia as Italy is a EU member, while Slovenia and Hungary are much closer to joining than Croatia. The Budapest meeting focused on the adjustment of domestic legislation to EU standards.
