ZAGREB, Nov 22 (Hina) - President of the Croatian Judges'
Association (UHS) and candidate for the president of the Bjelovar
County Court, Vladimir Gredelj, on Thursday refuted that he had
committed three counts of the crime of misuse of office and
authority.
He stood before a Zagreb County Court investigative judge, Zdenko
Konjic, who told reporters he had heard Gredelj, and said he did not
know when the investigative proceedings would continue.
Gredelj's attorney Anto Nobilo told Hina Gredelj had told the
investigative judge that the request for the investigation nor the
submitted documents contained no reasonable doubt that he had
committed the crimes for which he has been accused.
Gredelj believes the proceedings were initiated to discredit him as
candidate for president of the Bjelovar County court and president
of the UHS, for which e accused the State Prosecution and the State
Prosecutor, Radovan Ortynski, Nobilo said.
According to the prosecution, Gredelj used the official vehicle for
his personal use, misused the court's funds and is suspected of
stimulating three Croatia Insurance company employees to overstep
their authority.
There is no evidence for this, Nobilo said.
He also stressed that Gredelj had suggested to the court to
seriously consider whether to continue the proceedings and
initiate an investigation because, he said, there are no
indications of any criminal act in the charges filed.
