The Croatian permanent representative with the Council of Europe,
Ambassador Neven Madey, signed the convention on behalf of Croatia.
Also present at the ceremony was the Council of Europe Secretary
General, Walter Schwimmer.
The convention came into force in 1978 and until today, 36 Council
of Europe member countries have signed it.
During the signing, Schwimmer congratulated Croatia for expressing
readiness to take part in international cooperation in combating
terrorism.
By signing the document, the Croatian government started the
process of joining the remaining international-legal instruments
for combating terrorism, expressing its political determination to
act in line with the international anti-terrorist coalition.
