KOSTUNICA RECALLS KOSOVO CANNOT PROCLAIM INDEPENDENCE

BELGRADE, Nov 18 (Hina) - Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica on Sunday expressed satisfaction with the turnout of Serb voters at general elections in Kosovo. Appealing for them to overcome all disputes, he asserted the international community "guaranteed that the Kosovo parliament cannot proclaim the province's independence". Kostunica called on all Serbs in Kosovo to accept that which was not contentious, which is the return of Serbs to Kosovo. The fight for the rights of Serbs in Kosovo and its reintegration with Serbia and Yugoslavia "continues in a cooperation with the international community which is not in the least easy," Kostunica told the public. He voiced congratulations to the list bearer of the Serb coalition "Povratak" (return), Gojko Savic, "convinced he will not succumb to the provocations which have already begun".
