PARIS CLUB WRITES OFF 66 PERCENT OF YUGOSLAVIA'S DEBT

BELGRADE, Nov 16 (Hina) - Yugoslavia's Telecommunications Minister Boris Tadic said on Friday the Paris Club of creditors had written off 66 percent of Yugoslavia's debt, with 55 percent to be written off immediately and the rest over a one-year period. Tadic made the statement in Belgrade in his function of vice president of the Democratic Party, which is headed by Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic. The three-day negotiations, which Yugoslav representatives are holding with representatives of Paris Club member-states in the French capital, should wrap up today. Yugoslavia's debt to the Paris Club is $4.5 billion, and another $7.5 billion to the London Club of creditors. Tadic maintains the 66 percent write-off "is, in the economic sense, the most significant event in the last year and a key condition for economic reforms."(hina) ha sb
