ZAGREB, Nov 15 (Hina) - The Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) has intensified its cooperation with the chambers of commerce of China, Cuba and Austria, it was said at a news conference at the HGK in Zagreb on Thursday. China was
placed 18th on Croatia's export-import list in the first nine months of this year. Imports from China amounted to some USD98 million, which is a 62% increase as against the same time last year. However, this year's cooperation between the two economies, which has resulted in Croatia's participation in an exhibition in the Beijing free zone, confirms there is significant potential for a trade increase. The two sides have signed some 20 letters of intent, of which two refer to the sale of Badel wines and Kras chocolate. Export-import contracts are already being implemented by the Cedar company, which produces semi-finished wood material and Ivanicplast, a manufacturer of plastic products.

Trade with Cuba is rather low, however, there are good
possibilities for cooperation in the area of tourism,
biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical, food and tool industries.
Six Croatian companies participated in a recent fair in Havana,
including Crosco, a Croatian Oil Industry company, which signed a
four-million-dollar contract with the Canadian company Peberco on
oil research in Cuba.
Austria is placed fifth on Croatia's export-import list. The
country's exports to Austria in this year's first nine months
amounted to USD194 million, which is 12 percent less than at the
same time last year, whereas imports amounted to 465 million kuna,
an increase of 19%. The two countries are conducting talks on
cooperation in small and communal businesses and investments in
Croatia.
