ZAGREB, Nov 14 (Hina) - The Interior Ministry will not insist on the destruction of Constitutional Order Protection Service (SZUP) files but, according to lawyers, the files do not contain elements of criminal acts on account of which
charges might be pressed, Minister Sime Lucin said in parliament on Wednesday. A team of ministry experts spent several months analysing around 1,000 files kept due to suspicion of subversive activity, establishing that 600 did not contain elements threatening national security, said Lucin. He conceded it was possible that intelligence services made mistakes, and said that files established to have been based on wrong assumptions were usually destroyed.
