of information technology, "INFO", opened at the Zagreb Fair (ZV)
Tuesday, with an increased number of exhibitors and a greater
exhibiting area.
This year's "Interliber" gathered 150 domestic and foreign

Slovenia and Great Britain.
After three years of declining trends, the autumn's fair, as well as
"Interliber" and "INFO", confirmed a new trend which is extremely
important for the Zagreb Fair, its general director, Jurica
Pavelic, said at the fairs' opening.
Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic, who opened the two fairs, said
Croatia has to support the publishing industry because of the small
market, which, as he added, the Culture Ministry has already done by
increasing book funding by 50 percent.
Information technologies are the key link in the development and
openness of the Croatian society. Granic said the government had
maintained, since coming into office, that new technologies could
speed up the development of Croatia. Granic announced the
government would soon adopt a strategy for the development of
information technologies.
A total of 353 exhibitors from 21 countries will participate at the
information technology fair. This year the fair takes place under
the auspices of the government's Internetisation commission, with
the Ericsson Nikola Tesla company as partner.
The fair will also include the Microsoft Start Up Forum. Around 20
companies will present business ideas from the fields of
information and communication technologies, as well as the Foto
Zagreb 2001 exhibition.
