NEW YORK, Nov 12 (Hina) - In the time when the world joined a struggle against terrorism, it is necessary to prevent the expansion of atomic weapons and nuclear experiments, Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula said in New York on
Monday. The Croatian official spoke at a United Nations conference on the implementation of the Comprehensive Nuclear Testban Treaty (CTBT). Reminding of the recent terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, Picula warned that "nuclear terrorism threats can become reality." Picula stressed that everything must be done that countries signatories to the Treaty ratify the CTBT so that it can come into force. Since 1996, when the CTBT was adopted, 161 UN member-countries have signed it and 79 have ratify it, including Croatia. Picula advocated an accelerated agreement on efficient verification measures, stressing this was crucial for the successful implementation of the CTBT.(hina) it
