THE HAGUE, Nov 9 (Hina) - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on Friday night confirmed that brothers Nenad and Predrag Banovic, arrested in Serbia on Thursday, have been extradited. The brothers have
been transferred to Scheveningen prison, the ICTY said in a statement. Yugoslav Interior Minister Zoran Zivkovic said on Friday the brothers Nenad and Predrag Banovic had been arrested and turned over to the Hague war crimes tribunal based on provisions from the tribunal's Statute. The arrest of the Banovic brothers was in the jurisdiction of Serbia's Interior Ministry, Zivkovic said, adding the two were not Yugoslav citizens. The twin brothers were arrested by five persons in civilian clothes at a town market. camp where they had tortured and killed Muslim prisoners in 1992.
The date of their first appearance before the Tribunal will be set
at a later date, the ICTY stated.
