FRY LOWER HOUSE SPEAKER: I ASKED BOSNIA TO GIVE UP SUIT AGAINST FRY

BELGRADE, Nov 9 (Hina) - The speaker of the Yugoslav federal republic (FRY) Lower House, Dragoljub Micunovic, said on Friday that during Thursday's talks with the most senior Bosnian officials in Sarajevo he "suggested" that Bosnia-Herzegovina give up its lawsuit against Yugoslavia before the International Court of Justice concerning compensation for war damage. After his one-day visit to Sarajevo, Micunovic held a news conference in Belgrade on Friday, where he stated he had made the suggestion because, apparently, "there is no consensus on the issue in Bosnia-Herzegovina itself," so giving up the lawsuit would contribute to clearing relations and establishing trust between the two countries. According to Micunovic, representatives of Bosnian authorities, "during one of the meetings" agreed that "not a lot can be gained" from the lawsuit, and that tensions between entities would be removed by giving it

He said the focus of the talks in Sarajevo was foreign policy and economic cooperation, as well as the problem of refugees. The two countries' economics are "quite complementary", Micunovic said, adding that besides Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina was the only country with which FRY has a positive trade balance. (hina) lml
