combating terrorism in Strasbourg on Wednesday, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Ambassador Neven Madey, permanent representative with the Council of Europe, signed the convention on Croatia's behalf. Also present at the signing ceremony was Council of Europe Secretary General Walter Schwimmer. The convention went into force in 1978 and has been signed since by 36 Council of Europe member- countries. Schwimmer congratulated Croatia on its having expressed readiness to take part in the international fight against terrorism.
