PRISTINA, Nov 3 (Hina) - The UN civil mission to Kosovo (UNMIK) on Saturday applauded Belgrade's urging Serbs in Kosovo to vote in the Yugoslav province's general elections on November 17. The mission said this was an important
progress. We warmly hail the decision that support be given to the electoral process. The participation of Serbs in the Kosovo elections is an important step forward for everybody in Kosovo, not only for one ethnic community, UNMIK spokesman Simon Haselock said. Owen Masters, head of the Council of Europe's mission for the supervision of Kosovo elections, also voiced satisfaction with official Belgrade's decision. Albanian political parties in Kosovo reacted positively to the decision on calling on Serbs to vote in the elections, but stressed that the decision was in the favour of Belgrade's interests only.
