MOSTAR-Policija MOSTAR SOON TO HAVE SINGLE POLICE DEPARTMENT MOSTAR, Oct 31 (Hina) - A single police department, impartial and serving all citizens, will soon replace the current six municipal departments in the southern Bosnian town
of Mostar, a spokesman for the UN Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina has said. All Croatian national insignia have recently been removed from the police department in Capljina, which has elicited a protest from the local branch of the HVIDR-a association of disabled war veterans, the UN Mission's Stefo Lehman confirmed on Wednesday. He said the insignia were removed in line with a decision the international community's High Representative in Bosnia, Wolfgang Petritsch, passed in 1999. Under the decision, public institutions, including police departments, must serve all ethnic groups and cannot display the insignia of just one national community, Lehman reminded.(hina) ha sb
