PODGORICA, Oct 27 (Hina) - Montenegrin parliamentary parties have
reacted differently to the results of Friday's talks on relations
between Montenegro and Serbia, held in Belgrade by Montenegrin
President Milo Djukanovic, Prime Minister Filip Vujanovic,
Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica, Yugoslav Deputy Prime
Minister Miroljub Labus and Serbian Prime Minister Zoran
Djindjic.
Montenegro's Social Democratic Party (SDP) believes that "Serbia,
after everything Montenegro had to go through with Belgrade, should
be told once again that Montenegro has decided on a referendum so
that its citizens could decide which state community they want to
live in."
The People's Party (NS) believes the chance to redefine the
federation through talks has been missed and that the Montenegrin
authority has chosen the worse option, which could have serious
consequences.
The pro-Yugoslav Socialist People's Party (SNP) has negatively
reacted to the news about the failure of the talks on the future of
the joint state.
The Liberal Alliance (LS), which advocates Montenegro's
independence, expects preparations for the referendum will start
in the most peaceful way and stresses this will be an important test
for Djukanovic's Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the
strongest party in Montenegro's ruling coalition.
