END OF HRT-FTV NEGOTIATIONS

SARAJEVO, Oct 25 (Hina) - Representatives of Radio-Television of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina (FTV) and Croatian Radio- Television (HRT) on Thursday successfully ended negotiations on the take over of the equipment and transmitters on the Bosnian territory which would be used for the broadcast of FTV's programmes as of now, a spokeswoman for the Office of the High Representative to Bosnia (OHR), Alexandra Stiglmayer, said in Sarajevo Thursday. Once FTV starts with the broadcast of a new television programme in Bosnia, a re-broadcast of HTV's programmes will discontinue and all transmitters will be given to FTV. Stiglmayer said the Croatian government took over the responsibility to continue supporting the functioning of FTV in order to satisfy the needs of the Croat population in Bosnia. The Croatian government will ensure the money for the purchase of programmes in Croatian as well as for the transmitters and other necessary equipment. The OHR has also announced that western sponsors would donate EUR2 million for the establishment of an information programme of the Bosnian public radio-television service (PBS). (hina) np sb
