OSCE DELEGATION VISITS ZADAR COUNTY

ZADAR, Oct 23 (Hina) - A delegation of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe's (OSCE) Permanent Council visited war stricken areas in Zadar County on Tuesday as part of their three-day visit to Croatia. The delegation was led by a Romanian member with the OSCE office in Vienna, Valeriu Florean. Florean said the visit aimed at monitoring the reconstruction and return process in areas of special government concern. Progress has been marked, particularly in the work of police, the Romanian official said, adding there were still difficulties which should be removed -- namely the return of property, the return of refugees, amendments to laws, and others. According to him, the OSCE is particularly interested in the return of citizens of Serb nationality. We believe this process is too slow because their property is demolished and is not being reconstructed, he said. Florean said the incumbent authority wants to solve the issues, adding that in some cases the local authorities were obstructing the process. (hina) it sb
