POSTOJNA, Oct 16 (Hina) - More than 1,000 soldiers and officers, members of the Slovene army's active and reserve forces, started a military exercise called "Resolute Response" at a military range near the Postojna cave on Tuesday.
"It is obvious our army needs this kind of knowledge and level of readiness, both for the defence of our territory as well as for participation in international operations," said Slovene President and Armed Forces' Supreme Commander Milan Kucan, who met the participants in the exercise today. Defence Minister Anton Grizold said in an address to soldiers and officers Slovenia did not have the military power which could threaten other countries, but it had to have an army which would be respected by possible adversaries as well as partners in peace operations.(hina) sb rml
