RACAN ON US STRIKES ON TERRORIST STRONGHOLDS IN AFGHANISTAN

ZAGREB, Oct 7 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan in an interview for Croatian Television on Sunday evening commented on United States attacks on Afghanistan, stressing the military strikes on terrorist strongholds were understandable and expressing hope they would be efficient with as little civil casualties as possible. "This military attack on the stronghold of terrorists and the Taliban regime in Afghanistan is understandable and expectable. I want to express hope that this understandable move will take as little civil casualties as possible. Let's not forget that the people of Afghanistan are also victims of terrorism and the policy which supports terrorism in Afghanistan. Croatia is a part of the world's anti-terrorist coalition. This is understandable because Croatia itself felt what it meant to be a victim of terrorism and aggression," the Prime Minister said. Racan added Croatia wanted to contribute to the world's anti- terrorist coalition in different ways, directly and indirectly. Indirectly, meaning Croatia wants to be a stabile and safe country even if its surroundings was unsafe. "I hope that this military strike on the strongholds of terrorist in Afghanistan will be efficient, but we are also aware that it won't be sufficient," Racan said. (hina) it sb
