BELGRADE BELGRADE, Oct 8 (Hina) - The Yugoslav man who entered the Canadian embassy in Belgrade on Monday armed with a gun surrendered to the police this afternoon. The man was an asylum-seeker, the Belgrade based BK-Telecom TV
station reported. Before he was taken into a police vehicle, the man, in his 30's, talked briefly with Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic, who arrived at the scene. The man stayed in the embassy for about an hour and other details are not known. Around 30 policemen were positioned around the embassy building located in downtown Belgrade, opposite to the Croatian embassy. The Belgrade media quoted several sources in the state leadership as saying the incident was not linked to the US attacks on Afghanistan in any way.(hina) rml
