ZAGREB, Oct 6 (Hina) - The chairwoman of parliament's internal affairs and national security committee says the language of hatred is on the rise in Croatia and that all should work towards preventing it. "To be part of an
anti-terrorist coalition, Croatia must be a stable, democratic country. We must all work on it as the struggle against terrorism isn't the task of only one party," Djurdja Adlesic told a late newscast on Friday. "We can't blame only one side for the language of hatred. The blame is also on those who call for toppling the democratically elected government, and even on us if we blame the whole HDZ (the previously ruling and currently strongest opposition party) and not concrete names for what was done in the past," she said. ZAGREB, Oct 6 (Hina) - The chairwoman of parliament's internal
affairs and national security committee says the language of hatred
is on the rise in Croatia and that all should work towards
preventing it.
"To be part of an anti-terrorist coalition, Croatia must be a
stable, democratic country. We must all work on it as the struggle
against terrorism isn't the task of only one party," Djurdja
Adlesic told a late newscast on Friday.
"We can't blame only one side for the language of hatred. The blame
is also on those who call for toppling the democratically elected
government, and even on us if we blame the whole HDZ (the previously
ruling and currently strongest opposition party) and not concrete
names for what was done in the past," she said.
Asked about requests for the replacement of Gen. Petar Stipetic,
the military chief-of-staff, over recent political statements and
a dispute with the minister of defence, Adlesic said the dispute was
not good but not unusual either.
She said the her committee concluded "the dispute won't endanger
national security but will tarnish our reputation."
Defence Minister Jozo Rados recently described as "deep
politicisation and a departure from basic democratic principles" a
statement Stipetic made to the effect that "the defence minister
wishes to introduce dictatorship", and another one in which
Stipetic "commended disobedience to the (military) supreme
commander."
