RIJEKA, Sept 28 (Hina) - Croatia has to establish a small, well-trained and modern army, the military chief-of-staff, Gen. Petar Stipetic, said in the southern seaport of Split on Friday at a ceremony marking the tenth anniversary of
the Fifth military district's establishment. As commander of some Fifth district units, Stipetic said that "here, there were no violations of the law of war and military discipline either during or after the war." He added that at the beginning of the Serbian aggression on Croatia in the early 1990s, most volunteer units were established in the Rijeka and Istria region in the northern Adriatic.(hina) ha sb

ceremony marking the tenth anniversary of the Fifth military
district's establishment.
