JUDGES DID NOT ASK FOR SANCTIONS AGAINST CROATIA -- GREDELJ

ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - The delegation of the Croatian Judges' Association (UHS) never reported Croatia to the United Nations, nor did it request sanctions at a conference of the world judges' association in Madrid, UHS president Vladimir Gredelj said on Wednesday in an attempt to water down the negative comments which the Croatian representatives provoked in the home public. The news conference, at which a four-member delegation of the UHS informed reporters about events at the Madrid conference, began and ended with Gredelj stressing that the UHS delegation "neither reported Croatia to the UN, nor requested sanctions, nor was this the conclusion of any body of the world judges' association." Gredelj said he did not expect negative reactions to the mention of sanctions in their statement issued in Madrid, because sanctions were asked by only one delegation -- the Belgian one. The negative comments in the Croatian public, according to him, caused an unnecessary pointing out of sanctions in various forms in news headlines which were based on the issued statement.
