ZAGREB, Sept 28 (Hina) - Iskon Internet, Croatia's second largest Internet provider, has set up its own, entirely independent, 34 Mbps (megabytes per second) international link to the Internet, the company said on Friday. The link was
established by using wireless 'microwave' connections from the company's seat in Zagreb, via Slovenia and Austria, and then via optical cables to the Dutch-American company KPN Q West. Iskon Internet should soon link to another global Internet provider, the UU Net company. The establishment of the new link is the first time a Croatian independent Internet provider has severed its dependence on Croatian Telecom's existing infrastructure. Internet access via the new link is feasible in 99.99 percent of all cases, the company said, adding it would continue to use HT's infrastructure as well.(hina) ha
