PRISTINA, Sept 7 (Hina) - Ibrahim Rugova, president of the largest Kosovo Albanian party, the Kosovo Democratic Alliance, has called on the international community to recognise Kosovo's independence. Addressing a news conference in
Pristina on Friday after submitting the party's roster for the upcoming general election in the province, to be held on November 17, Rugova said Kosovo's independence was certain and Belgrade could join the discussion on its future only within an international conference. "Belgrade can participate in international negotiations, should they start. I, like other political forces in Kosovo, demand that Kosovo's independence be recognised as soon as possible," Rugova said. The Albanian leader supported the agreement signed between the Macedonian authorities and ethnic Albanians as well as NATO's presence in that country.(hina) rml
