VUKOVAR, Aug 25 (Hina) - War Veterans' Minister Ivica Pancic is confident Croatian veterans are aware they have to share the burden of the dire economic situation, but he will "strongly oppose all who wish to put Croatian veterans at
the receiving end of economic measures aimed at rehabilitating Croatian society." "It will certainly not pass," Pancic said in the eastern town of Vukovar on Saturday commenting on a recently moved government package of social restrictions. "Of the 600-700 million kuna that could be saved according to the draft (package), about 150 million would refer to veterans as regards disability benefits," the minister said, emphasising this ratio was acceptable. He added it would, however, be entirely unacceptable if 500-700 million kuna was saved on war veterans.($1 = 8.3 kuna)(hina) ha
