ZAGREB, Aug 20 (Hina) - The Croatian Farmers' Association of Slavonia and Baranja (ZUSSB) today wrote to Prime Minister Ivica Racan, asking that he become involved in solving the problem of the purchase of wheat. The Association
recalled that the money from wheat is the first serious profit for farmers this year. Last year, the Agriculture Ministry promised the wheat will be paid within 30 days. However, some farmers still have not received the money for last year's wheat. This year, the ministry promised the wheat would be paid 15 days after the harvest. However, this new model is again non functional. The wheat was not paid by August 15, and payment began only after we announced to protest. However, the payment model is not functioning in some areas, they asserted. They also demand that the wheat of poorer quality be paid at the same
price as the wheat of good quality, as the two will be mixed together
in flour which will be sold at unified prices.
