ZAGREB, Aug 13 (Hina) - The Centre for market research has recently done a study in Croatia on bribery and corruption, coming to the conclusion that 30 percent of the citizens in Croatia deem bribery and corruption a normal occurrence
in their society. Only 40 percent of citizens hold that bribery is completely unnecessary, 20 percent are aware of its existence, but have no views on the matter. Ten percent of those questioned declined to reply. Despite the fact that citizens are aware of the existence of bribery and corruption in Croatian society, the research results say that 75 percent citizens have never offered a bribe, while 25 admitted to doing so at least once in order to achieve their goal. Corruption and bribery, it appears, is most frequent in the health system (44 percent) and the judiciary (13 percent). It has not avoided the police, and even ministries.
