HR-BULLETIN-Politika BRIEF NEWS BULLETIN IN ENGLISH NO. 4082 HINA ZAGREB, AUGUST 11 FREEDOM HOUSE: CROATIA IS STABLE DEMOCRACYWASHINGTON, Aug 11 (Hina) - Croatia has joined the group of European countries in transition which have a stable democracy thanks to the activities of the incumbent authorities, said the Washington-based organisation 'Freedom House'. According to researchers of this non-profit and non-partisan organisation, the club includes the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and three Baltic countries as well as Croatia and Bulgaria which joined them last year. According to a report 'Nations in Transit 2001' which FH has just published, Croatia has made important steps both in the rule of law and in market liberalisation. The report, focusing on 27 former Communist states, covers the period from 1 July 1999 to 31 October 2000.
