ZAGREB ZAGREB, Aug 14 (Hina) - A donor conference dubbed "Humanitarian Mine Clearing -- Support to the National Anti-mine Programme in Croatia" will be held in Zagreb on September 24 under the organisation of the Croatian Mine Centre
and World Bank, under the auspices of Croatian parliament speaker Zlatko Tomcic. At today's news conference Tomcic said that an area of about four thousand kilometres squared in Croatia is suspicious and is full with almost a million mines and unexploded grenades. There are also about 500 kilometres squared of mine fields. With the current tempo of mine clearance, mine fields would be cleared by another 25 years, and about 230 years would be needed to clear suspect areas, Tomcic warned.
